Description
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a synthetic peptide medication primarily used to treat hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women. It works by activating melanocortin receptors in the brain, which are involved in sexual arousal and desire.
Unlike treatments that act on blood flow, PT-141 targets the central nervous system to help increase sexual motivation and responsiveness. It is typically administered as an injection and is available by prescription only under medical supervision.
Common side effects may include nausea, flushing, headache, and temporary increases in blood pressure. PT-141 is not approved for recreational use and should only be used according to a healthcare provider’s guidance.
